The Situation
Volunteers are critical to Jewish Family Service’s (JFS) ability to deliver a wide range of services that foster community well-being and promote self-sufficiency. Because of this, it’s critical for JFS leaders and staff to understand the profile of its volunteers, what motivates them, and how they can make the volunteer experience more accessible and fulfilling. To enable this, data is collected using an annual Volunteer Feedback survey, with results used to educate staff, prioritize initiatives, and implement changes to processes that can help improve volunteer engagement.
While the survey provided rich, valuable data, the complexity of the responses made analysis challenging. JFS needed additional expertise to conduct a deep dive into the data, as well as deliver a streamlined, repeatable process to synthesize survey results into clear, actionable insights to inform staff training, process improvements, and strategic initiatives. After the success of the initial engagement, JFS brought Impactful Insights back to support a second annual survey and continue building internal capacity.
Solutions Delivered
First, Impactful Insights processed and analyzed the complex survey data, curating results into a clear, digestible slide deck that highlighted key findings and offered actionable recommendations for enhancing the volunteer experience.
Once the analysis was complete, we developed a templatized report-creation tool to make future survey cycles easier to manage and ensure staff could quickly replicate the process.
Finally, we provided training for JFS staff on using the new tool and troubleshooting common issues - building sustainable, in-house capacity to support ongoing volunteer engagement efforts.
