Research support + survey development and analysis
Human Impacts Institute
The Mission
We are building a global cultural movement that’s inspiring big, bold, and beautiful climate action.
The Situation
The Human Impacts Institute (HII) partners with environmental justice organizations to leverage arts and culture to drive action. In order to inform the launch of a new program aimed at supporting its partners, HII conducted research based around three key research questions:
What is sparking environmental justice action?
What are the impacts of arts and culture on fostering environmental justice actions and communication?
How do we measure the impact of arts and culture?
While an in-depth literature review yielded valuable insights, HII needed additional primary data from organizations on the ground to validate its findings and capture a fuller picture of what was working in practice.
Solutions Delivered
Impactful Insights partnered with HII staff to develop survey and interview protocols aligned with their research goals and grounded in their literature review. These tools were designed to gather rich, actionable data from a wider set of environmental justice organizations across diverse contexts.
Once data collection was complete, we led the analysis and surfaced key findings that added depth and rigor to HII’s research. The insights helped inform the design of their new program, equipping HII with a stronger foundation for supporting partners and advancing their mission through art-driven climate action.
